It's hard to imagine that a landscape of such fascinating natural beauty could emerge from beneath the all-encompassing winter snow!
A natural paradise for sport and leisure!
A landscape full of diversity
A variety of walks for nature lovers
Montafon offers you more than 1,160 kilometres of hiking trails. More than 1,160 possibilities to make spring and summer a varied time. Where the snow is metres high in winter, the rest of the year the focus is on hiking. You start out over lush alpine meadows, through dense forests and past idyllic huts and alpine taverns.
Surrounded by three mountain ranges, the hiking area in Montafon could hardly be more varied. To the northwest you can see the striking limestone cliffs of the Rätikon. In the south, the partially glaciated Silvretta. And in the north-east, the natural diversity of the Verwall European nature reserve.

Open up a whole new world – Electro-biking in the Montafon
Cycling in the high mountain areas of the Rätikon, Verwall and Silvretta is no longer the exclusive reserve of sinewy, athletic mountain-bikers. As from now, these areas have become accessible to anyone who loves exploring and enjoys a good bike ride.
The Montafon valley has developed an extensive network of electro-bike centres, connecting up with the main Vorarlberg network. Of course, on an electro-bike you still have to do some of the pedalling yourself! What these bikes do is to give the rider supplementary power up to a speed of 25 km/h, although higher speeds are always possible using your own pedal power. But the electric motor gives you a considerable boost on strenuous mountain roads, and ensures that, whatever the weather, the wind is always behind you, helping you along. A wonderful new-found freedom for cyclists of all ages!
Any nature lover aged 14 or more can hop on an electro-bike and participate in the Montafon high mountain tour, a circuit of the summits of the Rätikon, Verwall and Silvretta massifs. Why not join one of the guided electro-bike tours offered by the Aktivclub Montafon? There’s the archery tour, the energetic biking tour, and the cushy tour, which visits the cheese dairy in Schruns. Or you can enjoy some bike-caching, a treasure hunt involving a GPS and some relevant co-ordinates.
As a partner of the Aktivclub Montafon our guests receive a discount of 50% on the hire price! Or you can simply book a guided electro-bike tour – that way the bike comes as part of the package!
